We’ve had a productive month and are well into the swing of things! 

 Our pace and activities are picking up as the children continue to develop with increasing attention spans and abilities to follow directions!    We are welcoming any parent helpers at this time!  Just send in a note as to your preferred date and we will put you on our calendar.

We would also like to remind you to send a snack in with your child each day labeled with their name.  They will need two snacks if they stay both morning and afternoon.  Please keep snacks separate from lunches as the lunches go upstairs to the lunch room in the morning. 

 Please label your child’s belongings—coats, hats, boots, lunch boxes, book bags, etc.  As we work to foster more independence in the children, sometimes things can be misplaced.  Please help your child remember a share-n-tell every Wed and Thurs.  Thank you!

 We will be reading Fairy Tales this month and talk about the difference between real and pretend.  We will also talk about (and celebrate) Valentine’s Day, friendship, and love.

B I R T H D A Y     B A S H    C O M I N G    S O O N

A reminder that our Birthday Bashes are on Feb. 1 and  2.   The children are to arrive at normal time and their special guest should arrive at 10am.  An email was sent as to which day the children were celebrating their party.  Please let us know if you need a reminder.  We will be having in-class Valentine’s Parties on Feb. 14 and 15.  An email was sent with the details.  Please let us know if you need a copy.   

WEEK 1   (Feb. 1-3):  Birthday Bashes on the 1^st and 2^nd.  We will begin our study of Fairy Tales, Valentine’s Day and also make some penguins and polka dot puppies.

WEEK 2   (Feb. 6-10):  We will be concentrating on lots of Valentine’s Stories, activities and crafts.  We will discuss friendship and play some friendship games.  We will listen to the Three Bears fairy tale and act out.  The library lady will be in on Friday—an activity we always love!!

WEEK 3   ( Feb. 13-17):  Our Valentine’s Parties are this week on the 14^th and 15^th.  Wear red, pink, white, or black!  We will exchange our valentine’s or treats, have some fun games and enjoy pizza together.  We will also be listening to the Three Little Pigs and the Gingerbread Man fairy tales.  We will be making some rockets and robots!

WEEK 4   (Feb. 21-24):  No school on Monday, Feb. 20!  This week we will talk about real and pretend using our fairy tales as examples.  We will be reading and acting out Rapunzel and the Little Red Hen.  We will make Lincoln crafts to celebrate President’s Day and discuss what a president does.   We will be making snails and snakes.

WEEK 5   (Feb. 27-29):  We will finish our discussion of Fairy Tales and compare and contrast the different ones we have read.  We will also have some letter T crafts—trees, trains and tubs.
